Safeguarding Children (Child Protection)

Safeguarding Children (Child Protection)

Important changes in the delivery of safeguarding training

  • Childminders or setting staff needing a refresher course as they have previously attended a course 2 years ago or less should now complete an on line safeguarding course which is free. Internet access is available at the Early Years Quality Development Centre, Manchester Road, Audenshaw, M34 5GJ or at local libraries.
  • Childminders or setting staff opting to attend a taught session rather than use the free on line course will be required to pay £75 by cheque in advance of the course at the time of booking. This fee reflects the true cost of a place on the course.
  • If you have a new member of staff that has not attended a Tameside MBC safeguarding course they should attend the taught session free of charge and use the on-line course next time.
  • Managers should always attend the taught session free of charge, either new or as a refresher.

Online safeguarding link

When you register for the on line safeguarding course, you need to select the ‘Awareness of child abuse and neglect – core’ course as there are a number of different safeguarding courses on offer. To access the free on-line safeguarding course follow web link:

http://tamesidelscb.safeguardingchildrenea.co.uk Link to External Website

As part of the on-line registration process you will need access to an email address - if you don’t have one you can use a family member, friend or colleague’s address with their permission. You will also need to think of a unique user name. It is important that you note down and keep your unique user name and the password that will be automatically issued to you.

Once you have registered you have 4 weeks to complete the course. If you do not complete within that time, you may be liable to pay £30 for the cost of the registered place.
