Ecological Searches
The Ecology Unit holds a number of data sets with ecological information. These include:
- The Register of Sites of Biological Importance
- Local Nature Reserves
- Protected Species Information
- UK BAP Species Information
Protected Species Information
We hold information on the following protected species:
- Great crested newt
- Water voles
- Badgers
- Bats (from the 1 April 2012 our data searches will now include data held by the South Lancashire Bat Group and a proportion of the search fee goes to the group)
We also hold limited information on:
- Certain Schedule 1 birds
- UK BAP Species (e.g. Brown Hare)
Search requests can be submitted by using the form below. Please include as much information as possible to enable us to deal with requests quickly. The form indicates the level of detail required. Please read the notes on the search form carefully before submitting your request.
Charges
An administrative charge is likely to be levied for any search undertaken. Our current search fees are:
- Search costs: £100 for the first hour + £50 per /hr for each additional or part hour
- SBI citation sheets: £30/site
For searches that return a small number of records, a reduced fee may be charged but this can only be determined on a case by case basis.
We do not charge landowners and occupiers for SBI information on their own land.
