Other Officers within the Council

Other officers within the Council (listed below by service) also carry out work on contaminated land issues, although not necessarily on a full time basis.

  • Environmental Protection Unit - other officers within Environmental Protection also deal with issues relating to contamination issues. For example, removal of asbestos, authorised processes and air quality may have implications for contaminated land issues.

  • Engineering Services - apply for funding for investigations/remediation and take care of the tendering process and management of certain site investigation/remediation works.

  • Legal Services Link to External Website - advise the Contaminated Land Service on legal issues and arrange for appropriate representation were necessary.

  • Planning Authority - The Contaminated land Service liases closely with Planning Officers and Planning Enforcement continue to enforce non compliance’s of any contaminated conditions attached to decision notices of planning applications.

  • Building Control - The Contaminated Land Service liases closely with Building Control to ensure that contaminated land issues are dealt under the Building Regulations. Building control officers deal directly with certain types of contaminated land issues such as installation of gas measures in property for certain situations.
