4. Tougher Enforcement - Increase Enforcement
Activity: Develop a reporting format which brings together all enforcement functions to increase co-ordination.
Progress: A reporting format has been developed and scheduled for quarterly reporting so as to ensure improved co-ordination between council enforcement teams.

Activity: Quality Auditors to assist in collecting evidence for enforcement actions.
Progress: In July, Quality Auditors will commence assisting with the collection of evidence to aid enforcement actions.

Activity: Improved systems are to be looked at further, for the reporting of enforcement actions by the Town Patrollers. This will include flowcharting the process and assessing possible technology such as handheld computers.
Progress: Investigation of system improvements is currently underway with all potential advancements being explored. Final recommendations and the implementation of improvements is scheduled for November.

Activity: Use of fixed penalty notices is being considered further.
Progress: The issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices for Littering and Dog Fouling will commence in June. Each Notice carries a fixed fine of £50.

Activity: Integrate the council's 24-hour emergency control into community safety and enforcement services.
Progress: A decision has been taken to integrate specific elements of 24 hour emergency control into Community Safety Services. These new management arrangements to take effect from July 2003.
