6. Tougher Enforcement - Minimising litter throughout the Borough
Activity: Determine priority areas for action
Progress: A map has been identified for a target area in Ashton
Activity: Determine legal powers available to
the council
Progress: Town Patrollers have been briefed regarding the use of Fixed Penalty Notices for littering and the scheduled introduction date for Fixed Penalties is 1st May 2003.
Activity: Determine action plan
Progress: Proposals are currently being developed in conjunction with key groups/ people in Ashton Town Centre.
Activity: Promote initiative
Progress: The District Assembly Advisory group is currently exploring networks/ organisations to promote the anti-litter message to local businesses
Activity: And implement the scheme
