8. Tougher Enforcement - Investment in patrollers
Progress: Recruitment Advertising is in the pipeline to recruit Patrollers for 20 part-time posts and 12 cadet posts. Encouragingly, staffing levels within the Patroller Service are being maintained.

Progress: Tameside Patrollers have made visits to over 230 schools throughout the borough to increase awareness amongst school children. A Schools Poetry booklet containing final entries submitted for the Tameside Patrollers Poetry Competition 2002 has also been published and distributed to all primary schools for use during Our Year of the Environment.

Progress: Levels of responsiveness to requests from citizens is already extremely high, with an average of 91% of requests for assistance being dealt with within three days. Levels are being monitored with a view to pushing standards of delivery-of-service even higher.

Progress: This year to date (20.8.03), Tameside Patrollers have attended over 440 youth based activities and more information on the formal programme of activities for young people being developed will follow.

Progress: Over 23 different Community Forums have been attended by SRB5 Patrollers this year with a view to raising the profile of patrollers.

Progress: Recent changes have been introduced to ensure that Patrollers are now covering every ward in the borough and changes to their shift patterns also ensure that there is a patroller presence on the streets between the hours of 8am and 10pm.
