Large Timber/Steel Framed Building
(Former Phoenix Market Hall Buildings)
Old Cross Street/Swan Street, Ashton-under-Lyne
Opportunity to acquire a large portable building erected to provide a large indoor market hall on a temporary basis.
Building Only - Which Must Be Removed From The Site.
Location
The Temporary building is situated at Old Cross Street and Swan Street, in Ashton-under-Lyne town centre.
Background
The Building consists of three large units which were erected in 2004 to provide a temporary replacement for Ashton Market Hall, which had been devastated by a fire in May 2004. The site used was a car park and due to the topography of the site one unit is at a lower level than the other two. The original market Hall has now been reinstated and the temporary building has been vacated. The building fully complied with the Building Regulations current at that time.
Description
The overall building consists of three large units each approximately 20 metres wide by 39.60 metres long. Each unit comprises 24 modular prefabricated bays measuring 10 metres by 3.33 metres. There is an interlinking section between units one and two to accommodate the main entrance, offices and restroom facilities. The building was designed and erected by Servaccomm Redhall Ltd, Partington Hall Road, Ottringham, Hull HU12 0AD. It may be possible to create a number of smaller units from the available bays but there are currently only 12 end bays which form the six gables.
A typical general specification for supalink range modular bays can be downloaded, see detailed additional information.
A full operation and maintenance manual is available for inspection if required by contacting Mr P Rawson 0161 342 3960
Services
The hall currently has gas fired air handling equipment mounted externally on each roof and a gas fired hot water system. Both gas and water connections have now been terminated.
Site Conditions/Dismantling Works
The site must remain secure at all times during the works and the existing perimeter fencing must be fully re-instated on completion if it is removed and/or damaged during the course of the works.
The substructure of the building comprises of 351concrete piers of varying heights bearing onto mass concrete pad foundations. The concrete substructure will be removed by the council once the building has been cleared and is not the responsibility of the successful bidder.
In considering the works required to dismantle, transport and re-erect these buildings prospective purchasers should note the logistics required. The installation of these premises necessitated 72 bays being delivered to site on low loader trailers involving detailed co-ordination with the police. They were then lifted into position onto carefully prepared foundation pads using a large mobile crane.
Terms
The buildings are to be sold as seen and payment in full will be required on signing of a license agreement26.43 KB
.
No works will be allowed to commence until appropriate method statements and risk assessments have been approved and the council’s requirements for Health & safety and Insurances have been satisfied.
