Are you a full-time Student?

Do you know that if you are a full-time student you may qualify for help with your Rent and/or Council Tax if you fall into one of the following categories:-

  • Pensioners
  • Lone Parents
  • Disabled
  • In receipt of Income Support/Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Student couples with dependent children
  • Solely responsible for a child aged under 19 and following a course of further education

Who must make the claim?

Partners of student who are not students themselves, are eligible to claim Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit on behalf of the couple.

The student cannot make the claim.

How to claim?

You must complete an application form for Housing/Council Tax Benefit and return it to the Local Authority as soon as possible.

Application forms are available on request.
