Tameside Food and Drink Festival 2009

The excitement is already mounting in readiness for this years Food and Drink Festival, it’s difficult to believe it started six years ago with a wonderful potato pie supper. It is often the simple foods that we enjoy and celebrate the most.
This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with a record number of entries for both the Food and Drink Awards and a larger array of events over the festival week.
Tameside Food and Drink Awards 2009
This years award categories are:
- Restaurant of the Year
- Café of the Year.
- Public House/Bar of the Year.
- Best Provisions for Vegetarians.
- Best use of Regional Produce.
- Tameside’s Best Sausage.
- Farmers Market/Local Trader of the Year
- Best Take Away Food Outlet
- Outstanding Contribution to Food and Drink
The gala dinner and awards night will be held on Thursday 1st October 2009 at Ashton Town Hall.
The event will get off to a rip roaring start on Sunday 27th September with Tameside’s award winning and nationally acclaimed farmers and local produce market so if you are a Gastro Tourist or just love fresh and beautiful foods then put it on your must do list.
Foodie Funday
"Foodie Funday" is our big family event, also on Sunday. Fun and food for all the family set in the wonderful waterside location at Portland basin, and most of it’s free, including:
- Morris Dancers
- Sausage tasting
- Hog roast
- Music
- Boat trips
- Face painting
- Potato dressing
- And that’s just for starters
