Safer Food Better Business (SFBB) Workshops
As you may be aware the new Food Hygiene Legislation affecting all food businesses came into operation at the start of 2006.
The new regulations apply throughout the food chain to all food businesses, including primary producers, manufacturing sectors, distribution and retailers. They require food business operators to put in place, implement and maintain a permanent procedure, or procedures, based on the Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles. The requirement is not for full HACCP Systems in all cases. Food businesses will need to operate procedure based on the HACCP principles.
In order to comply with Food Safety Legislation, The Food Standards Agency has developed a pack for small catering businesses called “Safer Food Better Business” or SFBB.
SFBB is a series of ‘Safe Method’ fact sheets, based on the FSA’s Food Hygiene 4C’s Campaign: Cooking, Chilling, Cleaning and avoiding Cross Contamination, which detail how key areas of food preparation and handling are dealt with safely.
To assist and work in partnership with local businesses, Tameside’s Environmental Health Department propose to run a number of half-day workshops at the Environment Centre, Ash Road, Droylsden.
The workshop will require a representative from your business to attend one afternoon between 1 to 4pm, where each delegate will be given the ‘Safer Food Better Business SFBB’ pack and shown how to complete the pack.
Using the pack in your business will help you to:
- Comply with the new legislations
- Show what you do to make food safely protect your businesses reputation
- Improve your business e.g. by wasting less food.
