Freedom of Information Act 2000
Freedom of Information Act 2000
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 gives you a general right of access to all types of 'recorded' information held by the Council, subject to some exemptions.
These access rights are in addition to individuals' rights to access information about themselves under the Data Protection Act 1998, and other existing legislation that already secures public access rights to much information held by a local authority.
Under the Freedom of Information Act, the Council is also required to produce a Publication Scheme. More information about the Publication Scheme is available via the following links:
- Freedom of Information Publication Scheme
This provides an introduction to and information about the Council's Publication scheme. It also (via a further link) lists the type of information that the Council routinely makes available to the public. - Your rights to access information
This describes your access rights in more detail and includes a form on which you can submit your request for information - Data Protection Act
