Outcome Focused Support

The Communities and Local Government Department has introduced a new national outcomes monitoring framework for Supporting People funded services, which is based on the five key areas:

• Achieve economic wellbeing,
• Enjoy and achieve
• Be healthy
• Stay safe
• Make a positive contribution.

Short term services will be required to report on the outcomes achieved by each departing service user, while long term services will be monitored by an annual sample of service users.

In response to this, many provider organisations will want to review how their own needs assessment, support planning and review processes map across to the new framework.

• Can you readily identify the information you will need to complete the outcome monitoring form or will staff time be wasted on searching through files to find it?
• Can you link up the outcome monitoring framework with your own approach to improving motivation and goal setting for staff and service users or will it be seen as an irrelevant administrative burden?
