History of Hyde Photos - Hyde Market
Hyde Photographic History

Hyde Market Ground from the Town Hall in 1930s or 1940s
Before Hyde got its own market in the 1850s the nearest was at Stockport.
Some of the stall holders in the more recent past were well known local characters, particularly well remembered was Harry Gilbert, the watch and clock seller, and Mrs Crossley who sold curtain material.
There was a little hut where snacks including black peas were sold.
