The annual competition celebrating the wealth of horticultural talent amongst Tameside gardeners was launched on Thursday, 20th March 2008.
Tameside's Champion of Champions Garden competition recognises the efforts that individuals and groups make, which put together, creates an attractive place to live and work.
The competition was open to everyone who takes personal and civic pride in their surroundings. This includes residents, community groups, businesses and schools.
The competition was run by Tameside Council and the borough's six largest registered social landlords. Each of the partners, including the district assemblies ran their own individual competition, acting as the first round of the larger borough wide competition. The competition culminated in a showcase presentation event on Friday 28th November 2008.

- Best large garden
- Best small garden
- Best commercial premises
- Best communal / neighbourhood team entry
- Best school
- Best young gardener
- Best patio / yard/ frontage
- Best balcony
- Best individual planter / hanging basket / window box
- Best garden with specific requirements
- Best specialist garden
- Special Awards
