Tameside Horticultural Show
The first Tameside Horticultural Show took place in September 2008 at Stalybridge Civic Hall. The horticultural show proved to be so popular that it was added to our events calendar as an annual show.
Tameside Horticultural Show allows people of all ages and abilities to enter their exhibits into categories that include:
- Horticultural Produce
- Carnations and Pinks
- Pot Plants
- General Cut Flowers
- Floral Art
- Sugar Craft Skills
The show takes place over the first weekend of September and attracts regular exhibitors as well as some new faces each year.
The number of entrants soared from 450 in 2010 to 580 in 2011 and, despite the challenging summer weather, rose again to just over 700 in 2012.
The event is staffed by volunteers over the weekend and this allows the show to offer generous prizes in each class and yet still be staged for very little outlay. Even our panel of expert judges is made up from volunteers.
The quality of entries is extremely high each year and the show offers residents a unique opportunity to showcase their own particular talents.
