Apprenticeship Programme 2009


Current Situation

The Council runs an Apprenticeship scheme for Young People aged between 16-21.

As an Apprentice with Tameside MBC, you will play a part in helping your community. In return we will give you the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills and study for a NVQ level 2 relevant to your occupation, plus other technical certificates may also be available. All apprentices will undertake the NVQ at Level 2.

Apprenticeships :-

Your pay will be:

  • Special rate 16 and 17 year olds = £3.50 per hour
  • Development rates for 18 - 21 year olds = £4.70 per hour
  • Adult rate for workers aged 22 and over = £5.52 per hour

The NVQ training will involve Off the Job training on a day or block release basis at a local training centre and, or On the Job training in the work place.

During your training you will be in a position to apply for suitable permanent vacancies within the council.

The Job Centre and Connexions, schools and colleges will have details and we only advertise once a year, as we receive so many applications we cannot accept "late" applications

Selection Process

All applicants will be take a series of tests which will enable us to assess your ability to complete the programme.
