Tameside Council Apprenticeship Scheme
Within the Council we employ a number of apprentices each year, our recruitment process usually starts in March with the annual Apprenticeship Fair, this brings employers and providers together to advertise vacancies and provide information about Apprenticeships, more information about the Apprenticeship Fair will be available in February of each year.
Working for Tameside as an apprentice will give you the opportunity to earn some money whist you are studying for a qualification and gaining some fantastic experience. During your Apprenticeship you will usually start by studying for a level 2 NVQ in a relevant vocational area, although for some positions you may go straight onto a level 3 NVQ depending on the job and your qualifications and experience.
The current rates of pay for a Tameside Apprenticeship are as follows:
| Age | Rate of Pay |
| 16 – 17 | £3.84 per hour |
| 18 – 20 | £5.12 per hour |
| 21+ | £5.93 per hour |
The standard working week is 36 hours, most apprenticeships will be employed for the full 36 hours. The NVQ training will involve job training on a day or block release basis at a local training centre and, or training in the work place.
If you are interested in the apprenticeships, look out for our advertisement with Tameside Jobs Bulletin and on the Tameside website in late February / early March 2012, you will also be able to get more information from Connexions Tameside, and in the local Job Centre.
All job applicants receive equal treatment regardless of disability, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, race, colour, religion, nationality, ethnic or national origin.
Current Situation
The application process for Tameside Council Apprenticeships is now closed. If you have applied for a vacancy we are now starting to process all applications, due to the high number of applications this will take some time so please be patient.

Following the completion of application forms suitable candidates will be invited to take a series of tests which will enable us to assess your ability to complete an apprenticeship. These tests will be carried out by Tameside College, you will receive a letter from them asking you to book onto a testing date, if you do not book on for a test you will not be able to proceed onto the shortlisting stage.
