Free wellbeing day for the over-55s

Dukinfield Library will be hosting a wellbeing day on Wednesday 30 May, for the over 55. The event runs from 9.30am to 3pm and you are welcome to come along for one session or bring lunch with you and stay for the day. All the sessions are free.

Newly Self Employed: the basics: 6 June (1pm to 3.30pm)

Thinking of going self-employed? Tameside Central Library, Ashton, is hosting a free workshop, run by HM Revenue and Customs.

Ee’s Ramblin Agen!

Mossley poet, Keith Slater and local historian, Terry Eckersley will be visiting Mossley Library on Wednesday 30 May between 2.30pm and 3.30pm to discuss Keith’s poems about Mossley and share stories about the history of Mossley. Copies of Keith's poetry anthology 'Poems of Mossley' will be available to purchase on the day. Contact Mossley Library on Contact by Telephone 01457 832467 to reserve your free place.

Summer Reading Challenge volunteers wanted

We need volunteers (aged 12 - 18) to help us run activity sessions for children taking part in the Summer Reading Challenge in Tameside libraries during the summer holidays.

Britannica Spotlight LogoBritannica’s latest spotlight: To mark the 100 year anniversary, primary school children can explore both the triumph and the tragedy of this great vessel. There are 21 courses being run in Tameside's Libraries - subjects includes basic IT, secretarial skills, family and local history, literature, confidence building and meditation. All are low cost and many have free places available to people on a low income. Sign up now to make sure you get a place on the course you are interested in.

The National Careers Service (formerly Next Step) can help you with your CV, interview skills, job applications and much more. Visit one of their free weekly sessions in Libraries to find out more.

Residents encouraged to book in to library police surgeries

Tameside Division hold 3 regular police surgeries in our libraries. The surgeries gives residents the chance to meet an officer and chat about their community. Officers want to hear about any concerns and will also be giving advice on home security and personal safety as well as providing help to set up Home Watch schemes.

Pictures to Share

Tameside Libraries has bought a collection of very special books especially created for people with dementia. The books contain high quality images accompanied by a few lines of text. Each picture in the books has been chosen to help jog memories, spark comments and bring pleasure to the reader.

Book Time for Yourself at our weekly book clubs

Sit back and relax for an hour while books, short stories and poems are read aloud, then talk about what you have just listened too. Everyone over 50 is welcome to join one of our 6 friendly groups that meet across Tameside.
