Despite this, local authorities are committed to continuing to deliver high quality services for our local residents. We have to save £31 million in the next financial year and over £132 million over four years. We want your views on the savings we are proposing to make.
Robert Graham - Author Visit
Robert Graham - Author Visit On Monday 20 February from 6 - 7pm author Robert Graham will be visiting the Readers Group at Stalybridge Library. Robert Graham‘s short stories have appeared in magazines and on Radio 4. He will be discussing his chapbook, A Man Walks Into A Kitchen. Where's Wally?
During half term, he will be hiding in all Tameside Libraries. Help us celebrate Where’s Wally’s 25th birthday with crafts, activities based on the Where’s Wally Books. For children aged 4 – 11 and their parents and carers. All the activities are free, just drop in on the day.
Come and Join the Bookstart Bear Club
The Bookstart Bear Club is the brand new fun and free membership reward scheme for all babies, toddlers and preschoolers aged 0 – 4. From Monday 9 January, the Bookstart Bear Club will be available in all Tameside Libraries. Do you enjoy talking about books?
Mossley Library has a brand new readers’ group and we’re keen for new members to join us. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people, to talk about the books you love and to read books you probably wouldn’t choose yourself over a cup of coffee. There are 21 courses being run in Tameside's Libraries - subjects includes basic IT, secretarial skills, family and local history, literature, confidence building and meditation. All are low cost and many have free places available to people on a low income. Sign up now to make sure you get a place on the course you are interested in.

If you are aged 19 or over Next Step can help you with your CV, interview skills, job applications and much more. Visit one of their free weekly sessions in Libraries to find out more.
Residents encouraged to book in to library police surgeries
Tameside Division hold 3 regular police surgeries in our libraries. The surgeries gives residents the chance to meet an officer and chat about their community. Officers want to hear about any concerns and will also be giving advice on home security and personal safety as well as providing help to set up Home Watch schemes.
Pictures to Share
Tameside Libraries has bought a collection of very special books especially created for people with dementia. The books contain high quality images accompanied by a few lines of text. Each picture in the books has been chosen to help jog memories, spark comments and bring pleasure to the reader.
Book Time for Yourself at our weekly book clubs
Sit back and relax for an hour while books, short stories and poems are read aloud, then talk about what you have just listened too. Everyone over 50 is welcome to join one of our 6 friendly groups that meet across Tameside.
