Would you like to be reminded when your library books are due back?
We know our customers lead busy lives and sometimes it is difficult to keep track of when library books and due back. With this in mind we have discovered an excellent free service that will send you emails reminding you return or renew your books before the date they are actually due back.
Library Elf - How does it work?
Library Elf
is a third party web-based service which helps library users keep track of their loans and hopefully avoid them becoming overdue. When you sign up for the free service, you can tell Elf to send you various email reminders before the items you have on loan reach their due date, or when they actually hit the date. It’s up to you how many reminders you receive and how far in advance of the due date they should start arriving.
You can also group together all your family’s library cards into one Elf account so that a particular family member can track all the loans and due dates for the whole family and can receive the alerts for the whole group.
Library Elf does work with Tameside Libraries’ computer system and you will find us shown in the “List of Libraries” under the “International” heading among the UK listings.
You will need the library card number and password for each library account that you wish to monitor using Elf. Contact our library staff who will be happy to set up a new library account password for you, or we can reset it for you if you’ve forgotten your personal setting. If you do intend to monitor another user’s account – such as a partner’s or a child’s – you will need to ask the other user(s) to share their library account password(s) with you.
