Libraries in Tameside have lots of services and activities for you to enjoy that will help keep your mind and body active. It’s free to join and with 13 Libraries in the borough there is one near you. Services include:-
- Bestselling books by your favourite authors as well as biographies, hobbies and healthy lifestyle books.
- Books on self-help.
- Support group listings.
- Talking books on CD and cassette.
- Large print books.
- Magazines on tape.
- Free internet and email at every library.
- Large print computer keyboards, trackball mice and computer screen magnifiers.
- Computer classes from absolute beginners to internet, email and word-processing.
- Free one-to-one computer sessions with trained volunteers.
- Learning for pleasure classes and one off workshops.
- Author visits and other literary events.
- Readers’ Groups at Libraries throughout Tameside.
- Book Time for Yourself clubs at selected libraries.
- Library clubs for over 60s with speakers and quizzes.
- Information on social groups.
- Family and local history resources.
- Health Information Service - a health information service based at Tameside Hospital for patients, cares and family members of inpatients, out patients or patients of GPs.
- A free Home Library Service for people unable to come to a Library.
