Local Innovations Award – Business Resilience

Local Innovation Award

Business Resilience

Business ResilienceOur aim is to ensure that business resilience in the borough is strong and sustainable across all business types. We have strong and active links with all sectors of our business community. Our objective is to work with these sectors enabling start up, growth and expansion. It is essential that the borough has its own sustainable jobs market building capacity from within its existing businesses and attracting new businesses into our borough.

Some examples include

  • Tameside Works First - £12 million initiative supporting local business
  • Tameside Business Family – developing local enterprise
  • Tameside Business Summit – our regular meetings with local businesses
  • Buy With Confidence - Approved trader scheme
  • Investment in Ashton-under-Lyne Town Centre, Ashton Market Hall, and business park at Ashton Moss
  • Meet the Buyer report 1.53 MB PDF File. The event was organised over two consecutive days on Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 September 2010 commencing at 12 noon and running through until 7pm.

The event was organized so that it didn’t just tick a box for the Council but focused on putting sellers face to face in front of local Construction, Public and Private sector buyers who had identified in advance a need for specific goods and/or services. It catered for sellers with pre-booked appointments, those who simply dropped in on the day, business support exhibitors and visitors alike – creating a unique networking ambience with a real buzz in the room.

“The Meet the Buyer event was really good – I met the contact from Tameside District Assemblies and within a week had received my first enquiry and now an order to rebuild a Bog Garden & two Rockeries for a local school. I think that opening up opportunities and meeting people face to face – which the event certainly did - will really make a big difference to local small businesses.” A Local Tameside Business
