With the increased pressure around reducing global warming and using resources in a more sustainable way – Tameside has introduced a number of initiatives to protect its environment and contribute to the national agenda.
Some examples
- 10:10 – a holistic approach in reducing the Councils emissions and working with partners to use resources in a sustainable way
- Working with local businesses to increase commercial activity around ‘low carbon’ economy.
- Increased recycling – Community Chests, financial reward for increased recycling
- Horticultural achievements - Britain in Bloom, community involvement and strong links with local schools.
