To ensure Tameside is an appropriately skilled and work-ready borough – it has worked in collaboration with key partners to ensure that people of all ages are able to access appropriate skill and work opportunities. The initiatives below demonstrate the innovative way we are increasing resilience in this area.
Some examples include
- Council and Tameside College
Pooled Apprenticeships – increasing the number of apprentices in the borough - Caterham Car Scheme
– a partnership with Police, Fire, Patrollers, New - Charter Housing
, Tameside College and Hyde Group to increase youth skills and reduce anti-social behaviour and youth annoyance - Local libraries supporting job seekers and local businesses
- Putting Unity in to the Community – with St Peters Partnerships

- Working in Partnership – reducing worklessness, Tameside Economic and Learning Partnership, Working Neighbourhoods Fund, Future Jobs Fund, Tameside Employment Partnership
- No Wrong Door – Supporting People into Employment
- The Tameside Employment Partnership consists of Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, JobcentrePlus and Connexions. The Partnership’s activities are aimed at ensuring local people have access to new jobs and training opportunities. The Partnership was established in 2002 and has worked with many large employers in the Borough. The Partnership is an award winning model, recognised both nationally and regionally by business organisations and government agencies
