Councillor Joyce Bowerman


Councillor J BowermanCouncillor Bowerman was elected to Tameside Council to represent St Peter's Ward in May, 2010.

Councillor Bowerman is married to Frederick and has a daughter (Kathryn) and a son (Lee).

Councillor Bowerman has three Grand-daughters (Jessica, Marlie and Louisa) and two Grandsons (Alexander and Luke).

Councillor Bowerman was born in Ashton under Lyne and has lived in Tameside for over sixty years.

Councillor Bowerman is a Member of the Place and External Relations Scrutiny Panel, a Member of the Enforcement Co-ordination Panel and is Deputy Co-ordinator for Tameside Town Council West District.

Councillor Bowerman is the Chair of St Peter's Community Gathering, a Committee Member of Friends of Oxford Park and Friends of King George V Playing Fields and is a Member of Ashton Town Team.

Councillor Bowerman is a Board Director of Ashton Pioneer Homes and a Trustee of St Peter's Partnerships.

Councillor Bowerman hopes to meet as many community and voluntary groups as possible during her year of office and is especially looking forward to working with young people and charitable organisations.

Councillor Bowerman enjoys reading novels, writing poetry, walking in the countryside, swimming and volunteering in the community.

Councillor Bowerman and her husband, when they can, enjoy visiting their daughter, son and grand-children who reside in Newbury, Berkshire.

Councillor Bowerman will be installed as the new Civic Mayor of Tameside at the Annual Meeting of the Council to be held on Tuesday 23 May 2017 and will be supported during her special year by her husband and Mayoral Consort, Fred.

Councillor Andy Kinsey and his wife, Sarah will undertake the duties of Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress.
