The team provide mental health assessments to individuals presenting with acute mental health needs in a variety of settings including the A and E department and medical wards following self harm, as well as offering same day urgent assessments if required. The team are also the single point of entry for access into secondary care mental health services and also provide a duty line service for unknown clients and professionals.

ADS offer free and confidential alcohol treatment to individuals aged 19 or over living in the Tameside and Glossop area.
Their aim is to a) prevent and reduce alcohol related harm to individuals experiencing problematic and/or dependant drinking and b) to educate and empower individuals to manage their own addiction independently. They provide a wide range of psycho-social interventions on an individual or group work basis and liaise closely with external agencies to co-ordinate a holistic package of care and support.

They also provide the Independent Mental Health Advocacy Service (IMHA) for the area.

The Health and Wellbeing Service is a free, confidential, community based service. The Wellbeing advisors provide information, advice, advocacy and support to help people remain healthy, active and well in their own home. Home visits can be carried out by a team of trained advisors, who will offer information on a range of local services to support individual need. The service is available to people aged 18+ living in Tameside who do not receive any help from Tameside Social Care and Health Department.

The Trust provides mental health and specialist drug and alcohol services to people in Bury, Rochdale, Oldham, Stockport, Tameside and Glossop.

The Primary Care Mental Health Service consists of mental health professionals who provide assessment and individual and group-based intervention and support for adults registered with a Tameside and Glossop GP.
The service provides therapy for people experiencing problems such as:

  • Depression
  • Panic disorder
  • Generalised anxiety disorder
  • Social phobia
  • Obsessive compulsive disorder
  • Post traumatic stress disorder
  • Low self esteem
  • Health anxiety

They also provide guidance on psychological wellbeing through workshops aimed at common problems such as stress management, sleep difficulties, or overcoming reduced activity.
