Object of My Affection
Object of My Affection
This exhibition in spring 2007 was all about objects and the heart-warming stories they have to tell. Local people loaned their most treasured objects and the result was wonderfully eclectic display, where a pair of modern red boots sat alongside a 1950s plate. People’s special objects ranged from a humble bottle top that brought back special memories to a porcelain dog pipe stand brought back from Blackpool as a holiday souvenir. Also on display were unique objects from the museum’s collection, like a clerk’s wig from Stalybridge Town Hall and the local artist Harry Rutherford’s set of paints.
