Gallery Saturdays - Kids Art Club
Our art group for children wanting to explore art and techniques in more detail. These fun drop-in art workshops are for children of all ages.
They take place each Saturday 1-3pm at Astley Cheetham Art Gallery, and are led by a professional artist.
You don’t need to book. Please note there is a £1 charge per child which helps us to cover costs for materials.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Harry's Art Club - Kids Art Club
Introducing our fantastic art club. The club is for children of all ages. Together with a professional artist the children explore different materials and techniques based around Harry Rutherford’s artworks in the Rutherford Gallery.
The art club runs every second and fourth Saturday of the month 10am-12noon.
The session cost £1 per child which helps us cover the costs for materials.
Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Baby 1, 2, 3, A, B, C.
Our super club is for the under 5’s. We will use music, song, stories and art activities to bring our museum to life for the little ones in your life. Each session will last an hour and encourage your angels to develop and have fun. We will focus on a different area within the museum each time. Suitable for under 5 year olds.
Last Tuesday of every month
11am – 12noon Free
Portland Basin Museum, Ashton under Lyne. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. Maximum 20 places.
Let's Natter about Harry
Every last Friday of the month the group meet to talk about Hyde and the artist Harry Rutherford. The mornings are informal sessions and everyone is welcome. We always have reminiscing boxes available to stimulate conversation.
The coffee mornings are Free.
Last Friday of the month 10am-12noon at the Rutherford Gallery, Union Street, Hyde SK14 1NF
Reminiscence Sessions
Reminisce about days gone by. Enjoy the here and now. Using objects, photographs and documents from the museum service’s collections we can offer sessions on the following themes, with more coming soon:
- Coronation Day 1953
- 1940’s Make do and mend
- Seaside holidays
- 1950s national service
- Soldiers’ souvenirs through the ages
- Made in Tameside
