I Made It Adult Masterclass: Intro to Spoon Carving.

Saturday 21st January at Portland basin Museum

Spoon carving is a fantastic introduction into green woodwork and one that can provide a lifetimes enjoyment.  It is a fantastic skill to learn as it can be done anywhere, with few tools and very little space.  On this course we will learn to carve your very own wooden spoon that you can use in your home using three tools, an axe, a carving knife and a spoon knife.

This course will give you the basic skills to carry on carving and learn a skill that can provide a lifetimes enjoyment

Although all tools and wood are provided, you are welcome to bring your own if you have them.

I Made It Adult Masterclass: Intro to String Art

Saturday 25th February at Portland basin Museum 10am – 3.30pm
In this workshop which is led by the professional artist Alison McIntyre, you’ll be introduced to the process of String Art.

Use thread instead of pencils! Learn how to create intriguing and beautiful geometric patterns using a contemporary approach to traditional sewing techniques. The ‘spirograph’ styled patterns will be created by sewing into card rather than fabric, using thread rather than the pencil. Once you’ve learnt the basics you can use the technique to make cards or larger works of art.

This course will give you the basic skills to carry on creating which can provide a life-time of enjoyment
The workshop is for beginners and you will be working in a relaxed atmosphere, where the artist can work with each person on a one to one basis, as well as a group.

This workshop is open to all and no previous experience required. All materials, equipment and tools will be provided on the day.
