Summer Holidays

Summer Holidays Passport

Get ready for the summer with the Tameside Museums and Galleries holiday passport, full of fun holiday activities and ideas to keep you busy over the six weeks. Collect a stamp from each of our sites when you visit and take part in our fun holiday activities. When you have collected all five stamps, hand it in to win a super prize.

Regular Activities

Tameside Museums and Galleries Service run regular activities during the week for children and adults.

Gallery Saturdays

Bring the family along to Astley Cheetham Art Gallery on Saturday afternoons for fun art activities. There will always be something to do and make on a family-friendly theme. No need to book, just drop-in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Time: 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Date: Every Saturday
Cost: 50p per person

Visiting Anytime

Feel free to drop in to Tameside Museums and Galleries sites at anytime to interact with our fun exhibitions and activities that are available during opening hours.

At Portland Basin Museum there are always fun trails and activities to do around our exhibitions and 1920s street.

At the Museum of the Manchester Regiment drop in and discover if you would have been tall enough to be a soldier and say hello to ‘Bootsy' our fun character for children who will guide you around our exhibitions.

Bank Holidays and Special Events

There's always something happening at Portland Basin Museum on Bank Holiday Mondays during Easter, May and August.

Bank holidays are family fun days; they are always free, there are lots of fun craft activities, face painting and music and a whole lot more!

We also host other special events at Tameside Museums and Galleries including a Teddy Bear Fair, clog dancing events, Spooky Night at Halloween and our annual Christmas fun day.
