Holiday Activities
February Half Term 2010
Throughout the school holidays we run workshops for children and families at our six sites. Please phone 0161 343 2878 for more information. Lots of our activities are Free! Find out more below.
Portland Basin Museum - Drop-in Workshops
- Tuesday 16 February 2010 - 11 am - 3 pm - free drop-in art workshop
- Thursday 18 February 2010 - 11 am - 3 pm - free drop-in art workshop
- There will be a self led craft activity available throughout the school holidays - free
Central Art Gallery - Art Workshops
- Tuesday 16 February 2010 - 10.30 am - 12 noon - £1 per child - art workshop
- Wednesday 16 February 2010 - 10.30 am - 12 noon - £1 per child - art workshop

Astley Cheetham Art Gallery - Art Workshops
- Monday 15 February 2010 - 2 - 3.30 pm - £1 per child - art workshop

The Rutherford Gallery - Art Workshops
- Tuesday 16 February 2010 - 1 pm - 3 pm - free drop-in art workshop

We run lots of family friendly special events at Tameside Museums and Galleries. Come along and join in the fun!
Free Family Fundays
- Chinese New Year - Central Library & Art Gallery - Saturday 13 February 2010 - 10 am - 3 pm
Help us celebrate Chinese New Year and the year of the Tiger at Central Library & Art Gallery in Ashton-under-Lyne with artists, Chinese food and don't miss our kung fu fan dance workshop. Participants can follow the lion dance to Ashton marketplace for more free fun.
This event is free but places for the kung fu fan dance will need to booked in advance. Please phone 0161 342 2029

Don't miss our fantastic family funday this Easter Monday as we travel back in time with characters to meet and lots of interactive workshops.
This event is free.
Regular Activities
Tameside Museums and Galleries Service run regular activities for children and adults.
Gallery Saturdays
Bring the family along to Astley Cheetham Art Gallery on Saturday afternoons for fun art activities. There will always be something to do and make on a family-friendly theme. No need to book, just drop-in. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Place: Astley Cheetham Art Gallery, Stalybridge
Time: 1.00pm - 3.00pm
Date: Every Saturday
Cost: 50p per person
Visiting Anytime
Feel free to drop in to Tameside Museums and Galleries sites at anytime to interact with our fun exhibitions and activities that are available during opening hours.
At Portland Basin Museum there are always fun trails and activities to do around our exhibitions and 1920s street.
At the Museum of the Manchester Regiment drop in and discover if you would have been tall enough to be a soldier and say hello to ‘Bootsy' our fun character for children who will guide you around our exhibitions.
