25th (Reserve) Battalion The Manchester Regiment
Formed on 9 May 1915 from the Depot Companies of the 16th, 17th and 18th Battalions as part of 16 Reserve Brigade. November 1915 to Prees Heath as 16th Reserve Battalion. December 1915 to Southport. May 1916 to Altcar as 69th Training Reserve Battalion. Disbanded at Ripon on 14 December 1917.
26th (Reserve) Battalion The Manchester Regiment
Formed in September 1915 from the Depot Companies of the 19th, 20th and 21st Battalions
Then as the 25th Battalion. Became 70th Training Reserve Battalion on 1 September 1916.
Disbanded at Ripon on 14 December 1917.
27th (Reserve) Battalion The Manchester Regiment
Formed September 1915 from the Depot Companies of the 22nd, 23rd and 24th Battalions.
The same moves, as the 25th and 26th Battalions Became 71st Training Reserve Battalion on
1 September 1916. Disbanded at Ripon on 14 December 1917.
28th Battalion The Manchester Regiment
A home service training battalion between 1915 and March 1918 when it disbanded in Southend.
29th Battalion The Manchester Regiment
Formed at Walsham 1 June 1918 and immediately absorbed into 16th Manchester's at Aldershot.
