When We Were Young Exhibition at Portland Basin Museum
When We Were Young
Iconic toys from the past few decades including Rubik's Cube, Meccano, My Little Pony and Bayko took centre stage at Portland Basin in spring 2006. Most of the toys had been loaned from members of the public, while others came from the museum’s collections. Hundreds of visitors told us what their favourite toy was via our Space Hopper message board. Plus, a special guest during April was the original 1950s Archie Andrews ventriloquist doll, who was sold at auction in late 2005. Portland Basin was Archie’s first public appearance in decades and he created great excitement at the museum.
