Blue Badge Car Parking

Blue badges enable concessionary parking for people with disabilities.

Concessionary Passes

To apply for a new National Concessionary Travel Pass Link to External Website or a replacement, get an application form from a GMPTE Travelshop located in the bus station at Ashton or Hyde or phone GMPTE on 0161 244 1050.

Door-to-Door Services

Tameside residents can take advantage of two door-to-door services which offer convenient alternatives to standard bus services.

Local Link Link to External Website may be available to you depending on where you live in Tameside. If you live within its operating area you can ring up and book journeys in a shared minibus. 

Ring and Ride Link to External Website is available to people who have difficulty using ordinary public transport. Available seven days a week for short local trips, using vehicles that are accessible for everyone. The service must be booked in advance.

Miles of Smiles

If you do not qualify for the ambulance service and you find it difficult using public transport to attend an appointment at the hospital, dentist, chiropodist, health centre or even your GP then you may be able to use the Miles of Smiles service. Public Transport to hospitals

With limited space, high demand and parking charges, using the car to get to hospital is awkward and difficult.  Most hospitals have good public transport links with a wide range of options. GMPTE have produced travel guides Link to External Website to help you make the best travel arrangements for using buses, trains and trams around Tameside.

Tameside Shopping Link

This shopping service Link to External Website is for people aged over 60 or who have mobility difficulties and provides transport to and from local fresh food outlets, including supermarkets and Ashton Market.
