Blue Badge Car Parking
Blue badges enable concessionary parking for people with disabilities.
Concessionary Passes
Reduced fares
and free off peak travel
are available for people aged 60 or over and disabled people in Greater Manchester.
To apply for a new National Concessionary Travel Pass
or a replacement, get an application form from a GMPTE Travelshop located in the bus station at Ashton or Hyde or phone GMPTE on 0161 244 1050.
Door-to-Door Services
Tameside residents can take advantage of two door-to-door services which offer convenient alternatives to standard bus services.
Local Link
may be available to you depending on where you live in Tameside. If you live within its operating area you can ring up and book journeys in a shared minibus.
Ring and Ride
is available to people who have difficulty using ordinary public transport. Available seven days a week for short local trips, using vehicles that are accessible for everyone. The service must be booked in advance.
Miles of Smiles
If you do not qualify for the ambulance service and you find it difficult using public transport to attend an appointment at the hospital, dentist, chiropodist, health centre or even your GP then you may be able to use the Miles of Smiles service. Primary Care Trust
and Tameside Volunteer Centre
set up this service jointly.
Public Transport to hospitals
With limited space, high demand and parking charges, using the car to get to hospital is awkward and difficult. Most hospitals have good public transport links with a wide range of options. GMPTE have produced travel guides

Tameside Shopping Link
This shopping service
is for people aged over 60 or who have mobility difficulties and provides transport to and from local fresh food outlets, including supermarkets and Ashton Market.
