Once – Because your time matters
Once – Because your time matters
When someone has died …. we can help you tell the authorities who need to know.
If you’ve just had a baby …..we can help save you precious time by telling the authorities who need to know.
Tameside Council is working with other Government departments to offer a new confidential service which we hope will make things easier for those people who have been recently bereaved, and for those people who have just had a baby.
The new service means that citizens will be able to just tell us once, and then we can tell other government departments and local authority services on their behalf. This reduces the time spent corresponding with a number of organisations and eliminates the need to purchase and send copies of the death certificate/original birth certificate.
The service is currently operating alongside the Registrars, based at Dukinfield Town Hall, as part of a government pathfinder project led by the Department for Work and Pensions.
To access the service citizens need to have registered the death/birth with the registrar, and be a resident of Tameside. They will then be told about the service at this point, and an appointment made with an advisor if required. The service can also be accessed by telephone, again once the death/birth has been registered.
If you would like to discuss the service in more detail or if you require further information please contact Dawn Cheetham, Birth and Bereavement Support Officer on the telephone number shown below:
