Sustainability Appraisal of the Core Strategy and Hattersley Area Action Plan Scoping Report - July 2006

Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, Local Development Documents (LDDs) are subject to Sustainability Appraisal (SA). The first stage in this process is the production of a SA Scoping Report. The Core Strategy is the first Development Plan Document to be prepared by the Council and the SA Scoping Report, was the subject of consultation with those bodies required by government guidance in November 2005. The July 2006 version published here contains the amendments to the SA Framework that takes account of the consultees' responses, as reported in Appendix A. The SA Framework will be used as a basis for appraising the Core Strategy draft policies and other LDDs in the future.

It should be noted that since the draft Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report was issued in November 2005, the Hattersley Area Action Plan (AAP) has been withdrawn. This action was taken by the Council following comments made by the Government Office for the North West regarding the procedural requirements of the new planning system, which it felt were not met by the Hattersley AAP Preferred Option Report. Consequently the references to Hattersley AAP in the Scoping Report do not have any current relevance.
