Core Strategy Evidence Base
The first stage in the production of the Core Strategy of the Local Development Framework is currently underway. It is a requirement of the new planning system that the preparation of the Core Strategy must be informed by an up-to-date evidence base on key aspects of the social, economic and environmental characteristics of an area. A number of research projects detailed below have been undertaken or are underway, which look at local and sub regional factors that can influence development in Tameside.
- Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report completed November 2005;
- Retail Needs Study completed December 2005;
- Green-space Needs Survey completed October 2005;
- Citizen 2000 Panel Wave 5 Market Research 333.29 KB
completed January 2006; - Citizens' Forum on Key Council Services "The 15 Year Plan for Tameside" completed March 2006;
- Employment Land Situation Report for 2007/08, published Dec 2008;
- Spatial Analysis of Local Strategies;
- Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment currently accepting submissions up to the 13th March 2009;
- Making Housing Count in the Manchester City Region;
- Strategic Flood Risk Assessment;
- A Housing Needs and Demand Study;
- Housing Demand Study;
- Employment Land Needs Study.
Work is currently underway in preparation for the first stage of public consultation on the Core Strategy as set out in the Local Development Scheme.
