"Brookbottom" Lees Road, Mossley

Development Brief

Tameside Council has produced this document to give clearer more detailed guidance to prospective developers and the public as to the type and form of development considered most appropriate for the Brookbottom site. This is an area of "Top" Mossley between Waterton Lane and Lees Road . It is an area of cleared and remaining industrial mill buildings and derelict land that is attracting a lot of developer interest. Planning Applications for its residential development have been received and can be viewed at the Council Offices in Ashton, and at Mossley Library.

During November / December 2004 the Council carried out a public consultation exercise on the "Brookbottom Scoping Report" which set out various options and policy assessments for the site. All the comments received were assessed and considered and taken into account in drafting the Brief. This was then put on deposit for public consultation during April 2005. The comments received have been assessed and changes made to the text. The final document was approved and adopted on the 29th July 2005 by Councillor Alan Whitehead, Cabinet Deputy for Technical Services as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD).

The Brief has been produced with several appendices as per required by the new Planning System.

These are

• Consultation Statement (Appendix C) 253.35 KB which précis's the comments received on the Scoping Report and the Draft Brief, and the Council's responses.
• Sustainability Appraisal Report (Appendix D) 135.25 KB which appraises the level of sustainability inherent in the Brief's proposals.

A copy of the Executive Decision Notice and Report 242.95 KB signed by the Cabinet Deputy for Technical Services approving the SPD is also added for completeness.
