Draft Hyde Town Centre Supplementary Planning Document

Draft Hyde Town Centre Supplementary Planning Document

The role of the draft Hyde Town Centre SPD is to help guide future development across Hyde town centre. The SPD contains policies to assist developers when designing schemes; and help the Council make consistent decisions when assessing planning applications.

Allied with policies focused on future development, the SPD highlights specific projects across the town centre that will play a key role in aiding its regeneration and future prosperity.

The key projects highlighted are as follows:

  • Creation of public realm guidance document for the town centre containing information on  acceptable materials, planting, furniture and signage palettes; and briefs for specific projects.
  • Improvements / redevelopment of the town’s eastern gateway to create a welcoming entrance into the town centre and an effective link between Clarendon Square area and Morrisons.
  • Improvements / redevelopment of the town’s western gateway to reduce the dominance of the road network and non-town centre character of the area.
  • Redesigned market square and outdoor market.

An Executive Decision to approve the document for public consultation was held on 21 April 2011. As a result, the draft SPD is now subject to a period of public consultation that starts on Monday 16 May 2011 to Friday 17 June 2011.

Comments received during the consultation period will be considered by the Council and where appropriate amendments to the document will be made prior to its final adoption.

Comments must be received in writing or email by 4pm on Friday 17 June 2011.
