Supplementary Planning Document
Tameside Council has produced a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) titled "Residential Development Guidelines", to help achieve high quality design in residential developments and house extensions. It updates and replaces ‘Development Control Policy Guidance Note 2: Residential Development’ and ‘Development Control Policy Guidance Note 4: Extending Your Home’.
From 18 February to 18 March 2005 the Council carried out a targeted consultation exercise on the Residential Development Guidelines Options Report. The responses obtained on the Options Report were taken into account in writing the Consultation Draft SPD. This was then the subject of a four-week period of public consultation from Friday 27 May to Tuesday 28 June 2005. Comments received on the Consultation Draft SPD were then assessed and changes made to the text to form the final document. This final document was approved and adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on 31 August 2005 by Councillor Alan Whitehead, Cabinet Deputy for Technical Services.
The SPD has been produced along with several appendices, as required under the new planning system:

(regulation 18(4)(b)) details the comments received on the Options report and Consultation Draft SPD and how these have been addressed. It also details changes to the Consultation Draft SPD in light of the Sustainability Appraisal. A copy of the Executive Decision Notice 23.02 KB
signed by the Cabinet Deputy for Technical Services approving the SPD is also added for completeness
