Tameside Sustainable Design and Construction Guide

Supplementary Planning Document

On the 26th October 2005 Tameside Council adopted the Sustainable Design and Construction Guide  as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) under the provisions of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004. The adoption was ratified via an Executive Decision by Councillor Alan Whitehead, Cabinet Deputy for Technical Services.

The original Sustainability Statement form has now been replaced with the "How to Complete a Sustainability Statement" advice note. This should be referred to when submitting a planning application for a major development.

The adoption of the Guide followed an extensive process of consultation in conformity with the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2004, including a statutory four week period of public consultation in January/February 2005. A full report detailing who was consulted, how they were consulted, the issues raised and how they are addressed in the SPD is contained in the Revised Consultation StatementLink to Adobe PDF fileAdobe Acrobat Format

As required by the Regulations, an Adoption StatementLink to Adobe PDF fileAdobe Acrobat Format has been prepared that explains the legal rights of anyone aggrieved by the SPD. A copy of the Executive Decision NoticeLink to Adobe PDF fileAdobe Acrobat Format signed by the Cabinet Deputy for Technical Services approving the SPD is also added for completeness. Reference paper copies of these documents are available at the Planning Reception in the Council Offices, Wellington Road, Ashton-under-Lyne and at all Tameside Libraries and Customer Service Centres. Please check availability of the documents with your Library/Customer Service Centre before visiting.
