Tameside’s Home and Community Support Service, within the council’s Adult Services, is celebrating the top result of 3 stars in a recent unannounced inspection by The Care Quality Commission
(CQC).
The overall rating received for the service was 3* Excellent on all 27 standards - the highest award achievable from CQC. The report looked at evidence under five main areas within the service: user focused service; personal care; protection; managers/staff; organisation and running of the business.
The inspection was conducted over a period of 7 hours and all 27 standards were judged. The inspector talked to people who used the service, staff and the management team.
Service Unit Manager Margaret Holden said “We are extremely pleased with the report and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the full team. “
Inspectors praised the development of the new role of Patch Co-ordinator, which is community based and their aim is to build close relationships with service user. This role has contributed to the effective communication between service users, staff and the service management team.
The report also stated how people’s right to dignity and respect were upheld at all times. One comment from a service user was: ‘The carer shows care and kindness whilst retaining my dignity’. The report indicates that the inspector was impressed with the highly skilled workforce and the overall management and administration of the service.
Executive Director, Community Services, Stephanie Butterworth said “This result reflects our focus on people who use our services and the dedication that all our staff have in delivering an excellent service for all these people. “
