Tameside is tops again!

Tameside Council continues to perform strongly, that’s the message coming loud and clear from the Audit Commission following their latest inspection.

For the council has been awarded the top rating of ‘4 star improving strongly’ - a feat unmatched by any local authority outside London, rating the council the joint 4th best in the country, following the independent assessment by 20 inspectors.

And that’s good news for the borough’s residents because to be awarded this accolade the council has had to demonstrate that, among other things, it is providing excellent value for money for its residents.

The inspectors described the council and its partners as having “a passion for raising the aspirations of local people and improving the quality of their life,” adding that the political and managerial leadership is “strong and viewed as inspirational by stakeholders.”

It added that the Leader and Chief Executive are widely recognised as visionary and inspirational while senior councillors and managers are also of ‘high calibre and work effectively together to deliver ambitions and priorities’ for the borough.
