Tameside’s Open Art 09
The Tameside Open Art Exhibition goes on the walls this week.
The annual favourite begins on Friday 15 May at Tameside Central Art Gallery on Old Street, Ashton.
Unlike other open art exhibitions, the Tameside exhibition has no selection procedure, so it is an opportunity for anyone who lives in the borough to get their art on the walls of a gallery.
This year the gallery received 246 art works - proving the interest in art and creative talent in Tameside is at an all time high.
The Open Art exhibition is a great chance to see the quality of work being produced by amateur artists within the borough. Paintings range from traditional watercolours to more abstract oils of a variety of subjects around the borough. There are also photographs, and mixed media work.
The exhibition has been hung in themes this year in the following groups: Land and urban views, still life, animals, abstract work and finally the human figure. This gives the visitor a real chance to compare and contrast different styles of artwork on a similar subject.
The exhibition is an inspiration to anyone to pick up a paintbrush and have a go!
Most of the work within the exhibition is for sale at very reasonable prices.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 10am-12.30pm, 1.00-5.00pm,
Thursday: 1.00-7.30pm
Saturday: 9.00am-12.30pm, 1.00-4.00pm
Monday and Sunday: Closed
