Press Release Date: 6 April 2011
Stalybridge town centre is going to be bustling on the second Sunday in each month with a brand new farmers’ market.
The market, which will be held in Armentieres Square, will boast a variety of stalls selling all sorts of seasonal and regional produce including cheese, meat, vegetables and home baked cakes.
There will also be bread, pies, chutney and jams, fresh coffee, Asian and vegetarian food, hand-made soaps and black pudding and black-eyed peas.
The first event is to be held on Sunday 10 April from 9am to 2pm, when Stalybridge Old Brass Band will be playing to entertain shoppers.
Tameside Council Executive Member for Economic Services Cllr David Sweeton said: “This new market will build on the success of the ever popular Ashton Farmers’ Market to bring the best of local produce to shoppers in Stalybridge and beyond and help to boost local trade."
