Booklet issued on Being Prepared for Winter

A Booklet has been written calling on people to Be Prepared for the Winter Weather 508.68 KB

Split into nine chapters it gives advice on everything from looking after your home and neighbours during this cold snap to staying healthy and offering travel advice.
The final chapter has a list of contact details in case of emergencies, such as the police and ambulance service.
The booklet is in response to the public’s urgent need for information and helps in dealing with the inclement weather and has been prepared in partnership with a whole host of partner agencies, including the Met Office
, Highways Agency
and emergency services.
The council decided to take the proactive step of issuing the booklet to give people the crucial information before the weather’s severity worsens.
The council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr John Taylor said: “We know that during this type of weather communications becomes crucial for the public. More than at any other time they need to know what to do in an emergency and who to contact.
“Although the snow and ice is seen by some as fun and exciting, for others, particularly older people and the vulnerable, it is a time of concern and worry so we are trying to de everything we can to alleviate their concerns.
“I hope people keep this booklet safe because I feel sure it will prove useful in the months to come, especially if this current weather continues.”
