Brass Bonanza for Bare Trees Band

Bare Trees Community Band from Oldham carried off the first prize at the Tameside Youth Brass Festival held at Dukinfield Town Hall on 28 November 2010.
Eight bands competed in the contest, battling it out for total prize money of £3,100. The event was sponsored by Tameside Council and adjudicated by Glyn Williams.
The Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Jean Brazil, presented the awards and Bare Trees, conducted by John Collins, received a cheque for £1,000.
St. Helens Youth Band
was runner-up, claiming £700, Youth Brass 2000
was third and Hade Edge Youth Band
came fourth.
Individual trophies were also awarded for best cornet, horn, euphonium, trombone, bass and percussion, and an award was given to the youngest player - seven-year-old Phoebe Collins from Bare Trees Community Band.
Cllr John Sullivan, Tameside Council’s Assistant Executive Member for Music, Culture and Performing Arts, said: "Once again we have showcased some of the best talent in youth brass from up and down the country here in Tameside and I was delighted to see so many competing bands."
