(Adults’ Services)

The Executive Member is responsible for all matters relating to the Council’s affairs in respect of the Adults’ Services brief. As such, the Executive Member is responsible for liaising with other Members of the Executive Cabinet, particularly where matters within the brief, affect other aspects of Council business or affect the Borough.

The Executive Member is responsible for ensuring appropriate consultation with partners and the community on matters within the adults’ services brief.

Terms of Reference

  1. To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary to take decisions about policy/strategy and provision regarding health, adult social care and other functions supporting vulnerable adults, including:-
    • Adult social care
    • Health improvement & health inequalities
    • Older people’s services
    • Learning disability services
    • Physical disability services
    • Mental health services
    • Community legal services, welfare rights, money advice & pensions joint team
    • Credit union and co-operatives development.
    • Supporting people
    • Homelessness
  2. To lead the changes required following the implementation of the Health Bill; the Public Health White Paper and the Reform of Social Care.
  3. To lead on the liaison with the voluntary and community sectors including the Tameside Compact.
  4. To lead the changes required following the implementation of the Health Bill (Autumn 2010), The Public Health White Paper (December 2010) and the Reform of Social Care (2011).
