(Business and Community Development)

The Executive Member is responsible for all matters relating to the Council’s affairs in respect of the business and community development brief. As such, the Executive Member is responsible for liaising with other Members of the Executive Cabinet, particularly where matters within the portfolio affect other aspects of Council business or affect the Borough.

The Executive Member is responsible for ensuring appropriate consultation with partners and the community on matters within the business and community development brief.

Terms of Reference

  1. To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision regarding the development of community assets and property including :-
    • Markets, town halls & public buildings
    • Asset management, council land policy, usage, sales and valuation
    • Facilities management of council buildings (incl. accessibility)
    • Architectural services
  2. To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/strategy and provision regarding development and monitoring of the Council’s Assets Registers via the Assistant Executive Member (Business and Development).
  3. To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/strategy and provision regarding the housing function.
  4. To provide support the Executive Leader regarding economic development, regeneration and skills functions.
  5. To lead, monitor, deliver and implement the Tameside Works First Strategy.
  6. To lead, develop, deliver and implement the Tameside approach to Big Society and Social Enterprise.
