(Environmental Services)
The Executive Member is responsible for all matters relating to the Council’s affairs in respect of the environmental services portfolio. As such, the Executive Member is responsible for liaising with other Members of the Executive Cabinet, particularly where matters within the brief, affect other aspects of Council business or affect the Borough.
The Executive Member is responsible for ensuring appropriate consultation with partners and the community on matters within the environmental services portfolio.
Terms of Reference
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision regarding the environment functions including :-
- Waste collection and disposal
- Recycling
- Fly-tipping
- Pollution control & environmental protection
- Pest & vermin control
- Licensing
- Trading standards
- Environmental health & food hygiene
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision regarding environmental strategy, energy & carbon reduction.
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision regarding the emergency planning function.
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/strategy and provision regarding bereavement services (incl. the cremation & burial function).
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/strategy and provision regarding health and safety at work.
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision regarding Enforcement including chairing the Enforcement Panel.
