(Learning and Achievement)
The Executive Member is responsible for all matters relating to the Council’s affairs in respect of the Learning and Achievement portfolio. As such, the Executive Member is responsible for liaising with other Members of the Executive Cabinet, particularly where matters within the brief affect other aspects of Council business or affect the Borough.
The Executive Member is responsible for ensuring appropriate consultation with partners and the community on matters within the learning and achievement portfolio.
Terms of Reference
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision regarding education, learning, schools and skills functions including :-
- Early years learning
- Children with disabilities in schools
- Education welfare, inclusion, psychology & SEN
- Educational attainment & achievement
- Schools – development (incl. organisation, inclusion, curriculum & improvement)
- Schools – support (incl. finance, buildings, projects & catering)
- 14 -19 Commissioning
- School improvement intervention
- Post 16 skills
- Libraries
- Culture, performing arts, museums, galleries & music
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/ strategy and provision of the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Primary Capital Programme.
- To lead, monitor, have oversight and where necessary take decisions about policy/strategy and provision regarding the customer access function including:-
- Libraries
- Customer services
- Call centre
- Countryside
- To oversee the conduct of the Local, Parliamentary and European elections.
