About Us

Tameside Council prides itself on supplying a top-quality service and it is the job of the quality auditors to make sure it lives up to that promise.

The team, housed within the community safety unit, comprises five officers who between them cover the whole of the borough. Together, they underline the council’s commitment to excellence. Their job is to monitor and raise quality standards among all the services delivered by Tameside Council and to support members by championing the needs of the public.

The role of the Quality Auditors is to act as the eyes and ears of Tameside residents and to look at any environmental or streetscene issues which may affect the wellbeing of the public or the local environment. These issues include, but are not limited to:

The Quality Auditors have a wide knowledge of council services and are continuously out and about in the community, recording and reporting issues of concern and are instrumental in seeking solutions to problems.

The Quality Auditors also consult the public in various ways, for example by conducting customer-satisfaction surveys on behalf of AGMA, the Association of Greater Manchester Authorities.

The quality auditors also work with Tameside’s district assemblies and patrollers and have enjoyed success in the fight against vandalism. They report graffiti to the PACT (Partners and Communities Together) group.
