Don't be a Dinosaur... Recycle

Tameside's Recycling Service is working with local schools to encourage recycling and litter management.

Blue Bins - Paper Recycling

Dinosaur made out of recycled materialThese can be ordered from the Council for free.

Collections take place on Thursdays and Fridays. The frequency of the collection can be arranged by contacting the Recycling Section.

Red Bins - Cans Recycling

These can be ordered from the Council for free.

Collections take place on a Wednesday. The frequency of collection can be arranged by contacting the Recycling Section.

Green Bins (School Canteens) - Cans, Plastic Bottles/Film Recycling

This scheme has been introduced so that school canteens can collect cans, plastic bottles and film for recycling.

For enquiries relating to this matter or to order recycling bins for your school canteen, please contact the Recycling Section.

Please note: collections are only 1 per month. We cannot empty bins more frequently than this.

If your school would like to start recycling, you can order your bins by completing the online form and we will deliver the recycling containers to your school.

Mobile Phone and Printer Cartridge Recycling in Schools

Do you want to get your school involved in recycling mobile phones and/or printer cartridges?

If you would like to set a scheme up at your school visit www.recycool.org External Link or contact Recycool Brand Manager on 01324 678 907. Collection boxes, curriculum resources, CD ROMS and other promotional materials as well as free collection of mobiles and cartridges are all supplied.

Education

Tameside Council has produced a recycling education pack for schools. The pack contains information and activities to help promote the important message of recycling in schools.

School visits to our Recycling Centre at Ash Road in Droylsden can be arranged.

A maximum of 15 children per visit - usually half a class is taken in the morning session and the second half can visit the site in the afternoon.

Visits usually last about 1½ hours and involves a tour around our recycling facility, a video about recycling and an activity workshop.
